April 2023 UPDATE!
We uncovered the wood on March 31 so it can finally dry. We are looking for a new project foreman. We also need help with:
- Cleanup of tools, wood, and tarps
- Finishing carpentry (90% done)
- Sanding and wiping
- Oiling: we’ll need to do this three separate times
- Procuring/donating: landscape cloth, staple gun in place
- Procuring/donating: sand (and set delivery date)
- Filling box (and two sand tables outside kindergarten back door): more hands make less work. Date based on delivery.

Overview
BIG thanks to those who have come out and helped: Noah O. (leading the charge), James, Brant, Jim, Rob, Noah W., Mark, Brian, Steve, Tom, and all the names we’re forgetting.
We’re getting really close. Come out to see it take shape and learn when things will wrap up!
The Kinderyard Sandbox project is the highest-priority facilities improvement project for Sun Valley Elementary that the SVDC is being asked to help facilitate/make happen. Principal Evans and staff at SVE have voiced their support for the project and direction.
The sandbox layout and plan has been designed with:
- No sharp edges or corners
- No chemical exposure (from externally facing PT lumber)
- A cover for longevity / protection
